Almost Full

As booth spaces fill up I am reminded of the need to create more opportunities in this town for local artists to make a living.  As I look for spaces for artists to vend, I am reminded of all the great resources that our community already has.  The important thing is to get involved. Join your local arts council, volunteer for a local non profit,  help to mentor someone in your field that is just starting out.  If you the one just starting out, seek out some help, get educated on what type of business you want to run and how to run it.  There are a variety of classes and workshops held all the time in many different locations around town.  Share something about your art everyday with the world.

As we move into the end of February the June shows are about half full and the October shows are about 1/3 full.  If you are thinking about becoming a new member, there is still time to apply for this years shows.  I will have signup information and applications at the Creative Sector Summit in the end of March if there are still spaces left at that time.

If you are already a member you can still signup by sending in your booth fees putting the dates you want to vend in the memo section of your check or Paypal.  Booth fees are $85 per Saturday this year and payment is required for your reservation.

New blog for a new site.

Ok, so a new blog for the new website and a new year of great new partnerships in the Asheville art community.  I just found out that the Asheville Area Art Council will be supporting our efforts with a new partnership.  They will be creating a new Asheville Art in the Park grant program to reissue our 10% donations directly back into the arts community.  This will help them leverage more support for the donation fund.  In addition Arts 2 People will also be helping support our market with advertising and promotion this year bringing the count to 2 powerhouse local arts non profits that will be supporting the market this year. A big thankyou to Kitty Love (executive director of the AAAC) and Jen Gordon (executive director of A2P) and both board of directors for making this possible.  I look forward to a focused stream of support for the arts community from this new collaboration.

I am working on what is next for the HARProgram and am currently looking into new commercial areas that need our revitalization powers.  If you know someone that may be interested in donating a space to a local handcraft artists please let me know their contact information and what type of space is available.  All donations are tax deductible. Look for new ways to get involved with the arts community through this program to become available soon.
